The Partito Democratico della Sinistra (PD) had its internal election and the previous PM Renzi (that defeated at the referendum was promising to retire) won with a strong majority, 70%.
Renzi has always been a supporter of early Italian elections. Nothing is sure, but this victory makes an Italian general election in September October more probable.
