On Sunday, the Austrian President will be elected.
The polls are too close to call (actually the poll are so close that no one is polling!) and Hofer, the right wing candidate of the Freedom Party – a party born in the 1950s by former Nazis.
The president in Austria does not have many powers, but would again signal an anti-European, pro Russian tendency that would galvanize Marine Le Pen and possibly sway the 2018 Austrian election in an anti – Europe way
This is not a Brexit event – Hofner is against Europe, but backtracked from a referendum when the people showed no support for it. But if Turkey gets accepted in Europe things will change rapidly (the Turks in 1683 laid siege to Vienna for two months – the Turks were defeated in 1698 and European do not forget so easily).
